Assessment Report

July 26, 2022

Dear Friends,

I present to you the final assessment report for the Office of the Registrar for the 2021/22 academic year.  This report contains information on how we assessed key learning outcomes, our results supported by data, and an action plan for hopeful improvement. This past year, the Office assessed two learning outcomes (or objectives) on which we, as a student service unit, are going to concentrate our efforts.

This past academic year, we have focused our attention on two key areas:

  • posting all degree decisions within 30 days of the end of the semester (outcome #1)
  • reducing the number of late reported grades (outcome #4)

The first two two areas are not only important for us as they provide much needed information to students and other departments of the university, but they also are key to keeping the university in compliance with key governmental regulations.

All assessments saw positive results through the work and cooperation of our colleagues in the Schools and Colleges, and the integration of new technology into our processes.  We anticipate this upcoming year to finish a project to implement a new graduation application and start building a workflow for schools/colleges/departments to use for certification of degrees and certificates.  This will allow for data quality checks at the point of certification.

Next year, we also anticipate a more goal-oriented assessment process.  The OR has been working with the Assessment Office to sketch out a multi-use goal and project tracking tool which will accomodate both our assessment and strategic plan responsibilities.

Any comments you have regarding these outcomes, our assessment of them, or other outcomes we may consider for future years can be directed to me at registrar@wayne.edu. Your feedback is welcome.

Best wishes,

Kurt A. Kruschinska
University Registrar
