Federal Consolidation Loan
Federal consolidation loans allow you to combine existing federal student loans into one new loan with a weighted-average interest rate of the interest rates on the loans included in the consolidation, rounded up to the next higher one-eighth of one percent. Loan consolidation reduces the number of monthly payments to individual lenders/servicers and may also lower monthly payment amounts. More information about online: Federal Direct Loan Consolidation.

Budgeting for 2024-25 expenses
The U.S. Department of Education stipulates the Cost of Attendane (COA) can include only the period that a student is enrolled, i.e., attending classes. Differences in the enrollment period cause differences in COA.
Following is a chart of the average expenses compounded by the number of month of coursework. It is a guide to help budget each financial aid refund check disbursed during the period of enrollment. Note: The amounts are estimates only.
