The University Advising Center is pleased to offer a variety of workshops aimed at the development of student success. Please see below for descriptions and links to workshops offered during the current semester.
Pre-Law and Pre-Social Work Personal Statement Workshops
The University Advising Center offers workshops on writing the personal statement, which is a part of the admission process for the School of Social Work and the Law School. The purpose of the workshop is to teach how to write an effective personal statement. The workshop will cover the purpose of the personal statement, the crafting and development of a central idea, and the construction of an outline to help with focus, coherence, and flow. Each session will feature one or two scenarios, sample essays used to illustrate the principles of good writing.
